Kuçova, former Qyteti Stalin is an industrial city of 30 000 people in south central Albania. The city is located on the second biggest oil field of Albania. Its proven oil reserves are about 490 million barrels. Citys subsistence has based on oil industry since 1920s.
During communist Albania city was renamed Stalin City (Qyteti Stalin) and was a closed military district. Despite the oil industry after the end of the communist era the town has suffered a severe industrial decline.
